To provide identification and promote interaction among fundamental, separatist mission agencies;
To facilitate the sharing of resources and services;
To disseminate information on strategic, missiological, theological, and ecclesiastical issues.
Membership in the Fellowship of Missions
is open to agencies who are committed to the biblical principles of personal and ecclesiastical separation — a position in keeping with the spirit and statements of
Scripture. Dr. Robert Gilbert, a former FOM officer, aptly commented,
...
FOM holds fast to the clear Biblical standards of separation from apostasy
that has through the years distinguished it from other evangelical
organizations. It is a difficult “row to hoe” when
there is such a tendency to make the Lord’s work “user-friendly....
It’s hard to drive a stake and say ‘Here I stand’ and not be allured
by the temptation to compromise a bit here and there and finally awake to
the awful truth that the lord’s blessing has been removed and all you have
left is what man can do without the blessing of the Holy Spirit....
The twenty-five
member agencies of FOM exist for the sole purpose of extending the outreach of
thousands of local churches. They represent the efforts of more than 3,000
missionaries serving in 70 countries.
Pastors
and church leaders should be concerned over current compromises of some mission
agencies regarding "the faith which was once delivered unto the
saints" (Jude 3). A landmark anchored in sand is not reliable.
